Any research foundation funding DC development or promotion?

Postby Twin Tattoo » Sun Dec 16, 2007 4:27 pm

Is there any research foundation that is actively funding the development and/or promotion of distributed computing projects? If so, which? If not, why not?

Why don't you start one? I'm sure there are plenty of researchers who would love to pitch ideas to get funding.

You could be the goto person for funding. You wouldn't have to spend on penny on any of the ideas, you'd just have to provide a good place for these ideas to be placed.

I wouldn't mind being such a person. If people would like to toss out ideas in this thread, I'm all ears. :D

I think, 'serious' research tasks are more effectively solved with Grid computing systems: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grid_computing; http://www.eu-egee.org; http://www.GRID-center.org/downloads/down_Home.asp. What is more popular for home distributed computing systems now, see my topic: http://distributedcomputing.info/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=1585.
