How about a DC project that attempts to create a program where the computer attempts to make sense of pictures or video that are fed to it. Originally, I was thinking it could try to make sense of Hollywood movies, but then it would have to do it in real time, and it would have to use some sort of movie player software that didn't break the DRM. Alternately, we could record tv shows off the tv, and give the file(commercials and all) to a computer so that it could attempt to make sense of it.

Now that I think about it, it would probably be smart to start out with simple pictures, and introduce concepts. Ball...soccer ball...cloud...sky...that sort of thing.
